BIRDSEED

• Brent and wife, Susie, have teamed up with the Miracle League of Northampton, a baseball/softball league for special needs children, in an effort to build Miracle Field, a safe, smooth baseball surface for kids in wheelchairs. Susie grew up in Greentown, OH, on a street with five boys. One of them, Matthew, was in a wheelchair, paralyzed from the waist down. “We’d been asked by other organizations,” said Susie, “but when we talked about the Miracle Field, Brent remembered what I had told him about Matthew and said, ‘This is it.’ “ For more information about Miracle Field, visit www.miracleleaguenhpa.org.

• Had dinner with Jim Cramer, host of “Mad Money” on CNBC and long-time Eagles fan, during the offseason. The two met to discuss finance and football. “We went a barbeque place in New York called Blue Smoke. We talked about finance and the market, then we talked about football. It was fun, he invited me back up there to sit in and watch the show.”

• After not being invited to the NFL scouting combine in 2007 and then being drafted in the 5th round, Celek uses those snubs as motivation. "It ticked me off, to be honest. I thought I would be drafted higher, but it just lit a fire under me that I will always carry."

• Acquired his desire to invest and research business ventures during his college classes at Cincinnati. "I would often get bored in class and sometimes just log onto the internet during class to research companies and learn as much as I could."

• Works with his cousin, Josh Randell, to broker deals between companies importing and exporting a variety of products from China, including bamboo flooring, plastics, molds, and chemicals. "Every time we get a big deal done, it's a big rush. Not as big as a football game, but it's up there. It's a very competitive venture."
