John Barrett Townsend II is the Manager of Public and Government Affairs of AAA Mid-Atlantic’s Washington office. He brings three decades of experience in varied fields, including broadcast journalism, public relations, and government relations. On the national level, John has worked for the U.S. House of Representatives and as a Presidential appointee.
Prior to joining AAA Mid-Atlantic, John served as Director of Regulatory and Legislative Affairs and PAC Director for Avaya, Inc. He was also a White House appointee to the Department of Energy, serving as a Press Officer and speech writer for Energy Secretary Bill Richardson. A veteran Capitol Hill staffer, John served as a Communicator Director and speechwriter for three Members of Congress. John is a former television news reporter, producer, and talks show host for five television stations.
