Teen Driving
The Mid-Atlantic Foundation for Safety and Education, in an effort to reduce teen driving crashes, developed the "Student Safety Club." This program developed by the Foundation enables students to direct their talents and energies toward promoting traffic safety in their school and community. It is hoped that the school's participation in the club can play a large part in preventing teen fatalities and injuries.
Senior Driving
Experts predict that 37 million Americans will be age 65 or older by the year 2020 and at least 90 percent of them will be licensed to drive. More than 202,000 seniors were involved in crashes in 2006, according to statistics from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). With the exception of teenagers, older Americans have the highest crash death rate per mile driven.
